Athens, Greece

Set sail on the adventure of a lifetime by exploring the stunning Greek islands. Each island, steeped in ancient history and myth, offers a unique blend of culture, cuisine, and natural beauty. Begin your journey from Athens, close to the legendary birthplace of the gods. Whether you’re drawn to the allure of ouzo and olives or the myths of Artemis and Apollo, the Greek islands have something for everyone. Crystal-clear waters, pristine beaches, and vibrant towns await your discovery. Spend your days walking, hiking, swimming, and snorkeling, and your nights dining and dancing under the stars.

Our Sunsail base is located at Marina Zea in Piraeus, part of the greater Athens area. This modern marina boasts numerous amenities, including 24-hour dock assistance and security, showers, chandlery shops, a swimming pool, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, the Greek Naval Museum, and free parking.

The Saronic Islands, situated close to the mainland, are the perfect starting point for your sailing adventure. Enjoy the seafood tavernas and pebbly beaches of Aegina, or experience the tranquil, car-free streets of Hydra. In Poros, climb to the clock tower for a stunning sunset view, or relax in the waterfront tavernas and coffee shops after a day of swimming in the bays.

Venturing further into the Aegean Sea, the Cyclades offer a treasure trove of islands to explore. With around 220 islands in the chain, each with its own unique atmosphere, you’ll find a variety of experiences. Mykonos is famous for its vibrant party scene, while Tinos offers quiet charm with its narrow streets and colourful shops. Delos, home to the Temple of Apollo, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with millennia of history to uncover. Throughout the Cyclades, you’ll discover fascinating historical sites, delicious food, beautiful beaches, and exceptional sailing.

Starting from Athens, all the major island groups are within easy reach. Explore the North Aegean, and the Ionian islands with their tropical feel, or even journey to Crete, Greece’s largest island, known for its unique culture and rich history. With over a hundred populated islands and countless uninhabited islets, your sailing adventure will be filled with new discoveries.

Sailing the Greek islands means navigating clear, deep waters with well-marked hazards. Many yachts anchor near the shore, though marina reservations are recommended. Some bars and restaurants offer courtesy Sunsail docking, making it convenient to come ashore for a meal or overnight stay.

Reaching Marina Zea is easy, with Athens International Airport just an hour away by taxi. Direct flights are available from all over Europe and major North American cities, including New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and Toronto. Start your Greek island adventure with Sunsail and create unforgettable memories on the azure waters of the Aegean Sea.
