St. Lucia

St. Lucia

St. Lucia is a gem in the Caribbean, known for its mountainous terrain, stunning volcanic beaches, and crystal-clear waters. The island’s lush interior is a haven for walkers and hikers, offering rainforests, waterfalls, and abundant wildlife. Sailors can spend a week or more exploring the beauty of St. Lucia, or use its central location in the Windward Islands as a jumping-off point for visiting nearby islands like Martinique, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines.

Our Sunsail charter base is situated in the Rodney Bay Marina, a modern, world-class IGY marina. Located about ninety minutes from Hewanorra International Airport, and only twenty minutes from the George F.L. Charles Airport in Castries, the marina is easily accessible. The marina offers a variety of amenities including a hotel, restaurant, swimming pool, shopping, and a supermarket. Excellent dining and shopping options are also available on-site and nearby. The marina is conveniently close to Signal Peak Park, several beautiful beaches, and the famous Friday Night Street Party in Gros Islet.

Cruise down St. Lucia’s west coast, making stops in beautiful, yacht-friendly harbours such as Marigot Bay, Anse la Raye, and Anse Cochon. You can arrange tours and hikes to explore the island’s interior, featuring falls, rainforests, and bird sanctuaries. Most St. Lucia cruises culminate at the Pitons, the island’s iconic twin peaks. Here, you’ll find coral reefs perfect for diving and snorkelling, along with natural attractions like mountains, volcanic fumaroles, and hot springs.

From St. Lucia, it’s easy to set sail for nearby islands. Martinique, a French territory, offers a unique experience compared to the British-influenced St. Lucia and St. Vincent. Enjoy rum distillery tours, French dining, and a blend of Caribbean and French cultures amidst stunning beaches, reefs, and mountainous jungles. St. Vincent and the Grenadines feature dozens of picturesque islands, including the pristine Tobago Cays, renowned for their diving and snorkelling opportunities. Whether you venture north or south, you’re in for an unforgettable sailing experience.

For those with more time, Dominica and Grenada are within reach. Dominica is known for its ecotourism, with mountainous jungles and a small population offering a serene escape. Grenada, while more developed, still boasts natural beauty and a variety of attractions.

Direct flights to St. Lucia are available from several North American cities, including Miami, New York, Boston, and Toronto, as well as from the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
