St. Martin

St. Martin

When envisioning the Caribbean, St. Martin often comes to mind with its stunning landscapes and vibrant culture. This popular destination, shared peacefully by the French and Dutch since the 17th century, offers a unique blend of cultures, cuisines, and entertainment. Its natural beauty, clear waters, white sand beaches, and diverse sailing experiences make St. Martin an ideal starting point for your cruising adventure.

Our Sunsail Charter base is nestled in the protected Fort Louis Marina in the French city of Marigot. This marina is home to an array of restaurants and boutiques, with easy access to fine dining, French bakeries, shopping, hotels, and the lively Marigot market. Although Princess Juliana Airport is on the Dutch side, it’s conveniently less than fifteen minutes from the marina, with numerous flights from the U.S. and Canada. From Europe, Amsterdam and Paris offer the most connections to St. Martin.

St. Martin boasts numerous picturesque bays and anchorages, perfect for a week-long exploration of the island. Don’t miss Grand Case, renowned for its exquisite French dining, or Orient Bay, famous for its stunning white beach and vibrant nightlife. To experience the Dutch side, visit Great Bay and the bustling capital of Philipsburg.

Just a short sail north lies Anguilla, a serene island with tranquil beaches and a relaxed pace. Here, you’ll find charming restaurants, beach bars, and breathtaking natural beauty, away from the crowds.

For a more ambitious voyage, head south to St. Barts, another chic French island known for its luxury yachts and upscale resorts. St. Barts offers exceptional dining and shopping, and Gustavia Harbor is both safe and comfortable. The island’s inviting waters, gorgeous beaches, and delightful shore excursions make it a must-visit.

You can also venture to Sint Eustatius (Statia), St. Kitts and Nevis, and Antigua. In Statia, hike a volcano or explore the local markets and beaches. St. Kitts features historic forts, national parks, and more beaches perfect for snorkelling, with local monkeys adding to the charm. Antigua, a premier yachting hub, boasts hundreds of beaches. Be sure to visit English Harbour, historic Nelson’s Dockyard, and enjoy the famous sunset barbecue at Shirley Heights.

The adventure in the Caribbean is limited only by your desire for exploration. Set sail with Sunsail from St. Martin, and let your journey begin!
